A few miles south of Gold Beach at Pistol River in Oregon on July 20th 2010 at about 3:30 in the afternoon a Toyoto Corolla had a head on collision with a gasoline tanker truck on US Highway 1. I and many others were forced to pull over as we obviously were unable to get thru. We also had no idea what had happened, as it was now only a few minutes after the accident. After observing the stunning spectacle from a pullout about a mile away for 1/2 hour and taking these pictures I turned around and headed for the road my GPS said would get me to Grants Pass and I-5 after passing over the Coastal mountain range. It ended up being road #3 (2lanenolines), and it took me about 4 1/2 hours to travel the 100 miles. At the bottom was a sign (last pic in this gallery), and it turned out there is a story about that road. Google it.
